This has been a minor problem for years, and in accordance with such, many professional photographers put their film in lead lined film carriers. You can usually find them at any good camera store.
Of course, you still have to put it in your carry-on luggage for inspection, cause after they see a large un-x-ray-able object in your luggage they will want to inspect it - but it isn't uncommon and it should not be a problem.
