Wow 40 views and no reccomemdations. I find a hike on my own thanks to all the greatness of the sites information.
Horton Trail 285 pictures posted. It was awesome. Is hiking snow not a big draw on HAZ?

No, snow generally is not very popular. BTW, most would consider between Phoenix and Flagstaff to be near or around the I-17 corridor. Your hike was in the Payson/ Rim area. Sedona is another easy area to hike in snow when the levels drop to 4000' or so.

I would have said, climb Mt. Wrightson. But that's in Tucson. Bring yak traks or some other such semi-crampon things.

I would recommend Four Peaks.
It involves a 19 mile (or 12 mile, depending on what trail you take) Off-road trail which is a great worm up to get to the trail head.
It is a 2-3 mile hike, one way. It just snowed up there this weekend; i'll probably be up there next weekend! woot!

Oh yeah, the hike is located near fountain hills area

@Borknagar To what exact trail out in the Four Peaks area are you referring? And for the 12-19 mile approach- are you referring to the drive in, via either fr143 or El Oso Rd?

If you go through fountain hills (on Shea Blvd) and go North on Beeline (towards payson, strawberry, etc) for about 15 miles you will see a sign for 4-peaks (I believe mile marker 234, but I could be wrong). Once you turn there, you will take that dirt road for 19 miles to get to the trail head.

I actually haven't read each and every reply yet PROBABLY why you did not receive INSTANT replies was the fact is... we have NO SNOW! Bad, bad year for Snow. Bad year for Snow Bowl too (which had to remain closed past normal OPEN) and yes I know you said not as far north as flag.

So, here in N. AZ we are finally getting colder after having only 2 really good SNOW DAYS/TREK/SLED etc. Your Snow days are coming. It's simply a dry winter so far.

Hope My answer sheds some light.
