Hello Hardy Hikers,
We (the Arizona Trail Association) are applying for a grant to rehab some springs along the trail. The application would be enhanced if we had photos of the spring or alternatively, terrain in the immediate area.
We are thinking of the following springs: Hopi in the Mazatzals, Granite in Four Peaks, and Walnut in the Superstitions.
Does anyone have any photos of these? (Post-fire for Hopi.)
Thanks much.

Re: Spring photos needed
Sredfield, you may know this, but I think it's a lost feature on a lot of users so I will post it here just as an informative note.
The home page has a search box on the right half of the screen just above the thumbnail photos of people's favorites that allows you to search specific things on HAZ. Springs are one of the options. All three of these springs are in the HAZ database, though there are no photos currently associated with them (yet).
The specific search feature is one that is very powerful and yet I use it fairly rarely. Check it out if you haven't before!
BTW- Whoever names stuff is very uninventive. I mean, how many "Walnut Springs" can there be?

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

A man's body may grow old, but inside his spirit can still be as young and restless as ever.

Re: Spring photos needed
I have two bad photos of Walnut Spring in the Superstitions. They were taken in 2002 on a film camera. One shows a clump of grasses in which the spring is hidden (i.e. no water is visible). The other shows the precious, reeking water, but it isn't in good focus. They probably won't be much use, but I'll scan them.

I have some decent photos of at least one Buttermilk Falls that a former Jersey guy would recognize.BEEBEE wrote:Or Buttermilk falls

Re: Spring photos needed
I think there are 2 in NJ actually. There use to be trails on the Wayne site of Franklin Lakes with a seasonal waterfall called Buttermilk falls. I think the land was all sold off and I am not sure the trails exist anymore.I have some decent photos of at least one Buttermilk Falls that a former Jersey guy would recognize.
