Solar Chargers

Post by GrottoGirl »

Hi all - we're off to do Kilimanjaro and a safari in a few weeks. I have a Solio Rocsta solar charger - but something appears to be wrong with it. I looked at the Solio website and it's like the device never existed. I wasn't all that happy with it anyway because it could only boost the charge on my devices. When the Blackberry was dead there was no hope to get it to charge. Nowadays, I have way more electronic gear I'd like to charge using solar with USB adapters: a new camera that now has a proprietary battery, Nook, and my phone. Any suggestions?

The Goal Zero products appear to be the state of the art solar chargers. Outdoor Photographer several months back had a big story on a Himalaya Expedition and the Goal Zero products. REI carries them, Costco had them on sale a few months back. http://www.rei.com/product/814778/goal- ... enture-kit

I like my Goal Zero. It's tempermental, but it does work very well and it's light and solid.
