I figure this thread can be a general one to announce photography events featuring HAZ photogs....I'll start it off with a couple of my own:
I'm happy to announce that I will be hosting my own photography show during the Phoenix First Friday Art Walk later this week!
Where: Studio 8 (Grand Ave and McKinley - storefront is on McKinley)
When: This Friday (Jan. 6) from 6pm-10pm
What: Matted photos and framed prints on display and for sale
Come down and say hi!
Also, Joel Hazelton and I both have photos in a juried exhibition at Method Art in downtown Scottsdale from January 3rd to February 25th, with the "opening night" reception at the gallery being the evening of January 19th, which we are both planning on attending
@Tough_Boots
That's ok. I didn't get to go either. But I planning on raiding their opening in Scottsdale....

Sorry for the belated post...but thanks to all the HAZers that came out to show their support! It was great meeting bart01, Rob, desertgirl, and suzaz, and it was great seeing azpride, chumley, hikergirl81 and juilachaos again. It show went for my first event and I can't wait to do more in the future! @Tough_Boots
I'll see you out there next time
Just a friendly reminder that Joel Hazelton and I will be at Method Art in Scottsdale for the opening reception of their "Searching for the Perfect Storm" juried exhibition. Tomorrow night (Thursday, January 9th 2012), 6-9pm! Hope to see you there!
Also, if anyone is hesitating to check this out because it's in Scottsdale, I promise it's not what you think. I was at the opening for their last show and everyone was down to earth and very nice. Nothing snooty. Davin, the gallery owner, is a good, humble dude, and he keeps the atmosphere casual and fun.

So I don't have to buy all new Arc'teryx clothes to show up? Is camo ok? flannel shirt? I think I have a flannel shirt that I haven't ripped the arms off, if not I"ll buy a new one and rip the arms off on Friday. If all goes well at work tomorrow I should be able to be there by 1900.

Met up with azpride, chumley and hikergirl81, and even got to meet azpride's mom! What an honor, she's way cool! Lots of people were coming through, and a Harkins bigwig even showed up.
I was there at 6:15 for about 15minutes. Great photos. I'm not sure why the winners won, but that's the problem with a juried competition. I don't usually like panos, but my favorite was that big pano of the Tombstone sky. The sofa and chair were in the way. I hope they moved them.

Jake, I missed you by minutes! You had just left. I got there late after getting off South Mountain late. So sorry I missed you. You missed a nice little Craft Beer outing.....Your pictures are awesome at the Gallery...

They were there the whole night. Chumley used them to his advantage for getting friendly with the ladies though.
Ya, that was a bummer! I think Chumley struck out though, he left with us....
Here's a couple of pics from last night. There's one guy missing...bummer!

Um yeah. Unfortunately the only ladies in that couch were what I believe fit the definition of "sabertooth". But what can I say, I still had to lean over them to look at the photos!
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

That's a nice thought, but it didn't seem to work for Joel!

Once again I will be participating in a juried photography show at Method Art Gallery in Downtown Scottsdale! The exhibit will be on display from December 3rd to February 1st, with opening reception the night of December 5th (coincides with Scottsdale First Thursday Art Walk). I plan on attending the reception, not sure how long I will stay, but if anyone decides to go hopefully I'll run into you! Chikku Baiju (HAZ username: chikkutom) also has a couple photos going up as well, and I'm sure he will be in attendance. If you're curious which of my photos will be on display, it's this one: http://hikearizona.com/photo=348609
You'll just be a couple of blocks away from us.
FYI, there is a new photog gallery that opened right across from us. http://www.tiltgallery.com/about-us/
Best of luck, you have some great images.
