Big Improvements to Mazatzals Divide, AZT #23

A couple intrepid AZT folks went in to Bear Springs last weekend doing maintenance. The trail from Peeley to Bear Spings had 93 deadfall!! They cleared them all, including 21 between Bear Springs and the Divide Trail. They report snow and ice on the north slopes but the trail will definitely be in good shape for the coming hiking season.

They do note that there is some brushing to do and are planning a 4-5 day work trip to brush the trail in mid-March.

The AZT is complete but it's never gonna be "done."

I still "vividly" remember that section from when we went through there on the AZT. I had muscles that were sore, that weren't supposed to be sore, just from hiking!

I saw Jacob Waltz in the Supes the other day, it could happen.

I'll be there in March and do some brushing with clippers (as needed) but not enough time for major work.

The Mazatzal area was great a few weeks ago! I really appreciate all the extra efforts made to clear that section of trail. Everything I heard was that it was the worst and I kept waiting for the bad part. But, after struggling through Four Peaks, it was just wonderful. Thanks again to the efforts to clear it out!
