CC charges Lee's Ferry
Use caution and monitor you credit card bills if you use a credit card in the Lee's Ferry area and Page. I used mine at a Lodge near Lee's Ferry, and a Maverick, the Walmart and Safeway in Page. It is unlikely that the number was stolen in Page, and I think it more than likely occurred in Lee's. I am accusing no one, but given I have never had any card theft, almost always use it at large retailers, and coincidentally have fraudulent charges after using it in a small isolated area where they needed to copy my card because their machine wasn't reading my card's magnetic strip, I am very suspicious. Just a warning with the season about 6 weeks away.

I have paid with my card at that place you're talking about near the Ferry, but usually have used cash. It is a family-owned business, (both the gas station and the motel are owned by the same family) and if you can prove to them it occurred at their place, they'd probably be pretty concerned. They have all kinds of employees, you know, turnover, just like any business of that type. I guess I'd want to let them know.

Never had an issue with that living and working in the Lee's Ferry area for three years, nor did I hear of any such thing. I'd be suspicious of gas stations, since thieves are now planting scanners on the card readers that you can't distinguish from the genuine scanner.

That's what happened to Suz in Gilbert a couple of years ago, remember? She lost a couple grand out of her bank account. Thankfully she was reimbursed.

Re: CC charges Lee's Ferry
Indeed, my charges were minor, and as I say, it may be a coincidence and the number might have been stolen in Colorado or elsewhere. I'd like to know how I was able to get gas if there is a thieve's card reader in the gas pump? I am not accusing Marble Canyon Lodge, as things get thrown away, people can enter their lobby and steal the numbers, and as I said, it made have been stolen in Colorado. A merchant in Ouray was telling me about an outbreak of thefts on the western slope, linked to the readers on gas pumps.
The charges were for ATT Service and Yahoo Wallet. ATT is at least a legitimate business, but Yahoo Wallet has no right to exist, it just wreaks of thievery.

The scanner sits on the top of the port. It scans your card, but then either a) transmits the data to the pump computer or b) allows the card to go further in and be read by the pump's actual reader.
Anyway, wherever it happen, sorry to hear it.

Maybe it is coincidence, but who knows. It is always good to look over you bills. I'm just glad I caught it when I did.
