Bring Your Boots, Bikes And Binoculars
To Patagonia Trails And Earth Day, April 21, 2012

Power down the smartphone and gear up for a different kind of tweet. On April 21, 2012, the town of Patagonia, Arizona, teams up with the Arizona Trail Association (ATA) to host the third annual celebration of the area’s many trails as well as sustainable living in the community.

Friday evening, April 20, features a presentation by Diana Hadley, assistant curator of the Arizona State Museum, on the history of trails in the area. Beginning early Saturday morning, enjoy trail walks, bike rides, birding, garden tour, walking history tour, plant sale, youth activities and interactive displays by partnering organizations. Fresh local foods and gardens will be highlighted. You’re invited to attend sessions on borderlands habitat restoration, water catchment and Arizona Trail recreation opportunities. Stay just the day or stay the weekend and book a room at Arizona Trail supporter Stage Stop Inn or at one of Patagonia's great B&B's.

The ATA and the Mountain Empire Trail Association (META) are sponsors of Patagonia Trails Day. For information on Patagonia Trails and Earth Day or the town of Patagonia, visit http://www.patagoniaaz.com. For additional information on the Arizona Trail Association, go to http://www.aztrail.org or email ata@aztrail.org.

Patagonia was dedicated as the first officially signed “Arizona Trail Gateway Community” in 2010. The ATA’s Gateway Community project promotes “trail towns” as access points to the Arizona Trail for visitors and residents alike.
