Gorging the movie

Post by RedRoxx44 »

It's not out yet but features 3 war horses and a young one ( hey younger than me). I saw this at Mike Kelsey's website, thought it might peak some interest. I apologize if this is a repost but looked for it and didn't see it here.

Might be interesting, although I wonder how the guy went to 223 countries, when there are only between 187 and 196 countries in the world?

I'm sure in the 40 years he has been backpacking a number of countries have come and gone.

The first example that comes to mind... North & South Vietnam are now only Vietnam. So technically speaking if he had been like Jane Fonda and made it to North Vietnam, then South Vietnam and now Vietnam that would be 3 countries he visited even though only one of the three still exists.

Hmmm. I hadn't considered that possibility. If he had been to Burma, and then Myanmar. British Honduras, then Belize. Tanganyika, then Tanzania, etc. etc. But I guess I would consider that a bit disingenuous.

Just heard from Kelsey this morning, regarding another matter. He's 69! I know I'd have to wear track shoes to keep up with him. He's a bit controversial in most circles; I've had nothing but positive experiences with him, although I most certainly allow a lot more time for hikes of his I've used.
His basic philosophy and mine differ on revealing places ---er, he's a guidebook writer----I do enjoy the nuggets of history and interviews he includes in most of his books.

According to a post on another website the movie producer is "obviously" behind on the release and getting more footage. Could be needs more money.

Another movie to be filmed will be "Wild" based on the book about hiking the PCT by Cheryl Strayed. I heard that Reese Witherspoon will play Cheryl. This should be in a new thread, but it hasn't even been filmed yet, and I am sure someone will post up about it when the time comes. Also, it seems that The Monkey Wrench Gang movie has never gotten off the ground. I did a search, and all the news is old news. Never happened.
