Opinions on the LifeProof case for iPhone ...

Post by paulshikleejr »

After holding out with my basic "feature" phone for as long as I could, I'm probably going to get an iPhone this weekend.

Does anyone have any opinions/experience with the LifeProof case for the iPhone?

I actually already bought one at my local BestBuy (so I can immediately clothe my iPhone), but I was wondering if I pulled a bonehead move (I have about 23 days left to return it).

Thank you in advance!

Love it having lost a previous phone to moisture while tying down a helicopter in sideways rain it's a good investment. Smaller than other waterproof cases. I got one from best buy that was opened for a customer to see so it was 15$ off. Submerged it for an hour per directions and completely dry before clothing the phone. Only downfall is that only stock charger earphones fit w/out taking off case. I use the waterproof earphone cord a lot for accessories like listening to music in my truck.

I have another option for you, unless you are totally set on an iPhone.
I've got the Casio Commando and it doesn't need a case to be waterproof. I've shot photos and sent them places while the phone was under water. All the access ports (battery, audio jack, USB) are O-ring sealed. Any external connections are gold-plated to avoid corrosion. This is the same phone that is issued to DPS officers around CG (and maybe other places) because it is so rugged out of the box. It runs Android. It is on Verizon. I love mine.
Again, if you are set on an iPhone, that doesn't help, but if you are looking for options for to make a phone life proof...

Thank you for the referral.

I'll take a look at it when I go to the Verizon store today.
