Bluff Spring Loop for beginners... Sunday Dec 15th

Post by ellehcim »

It is listed in the "Hikers Guide to the Superstition Wilderness" Page 55, 9.1 miles, 5 hours round trip.

Itinerary: From Peralta Trailhead, the Dutchman's Trail (104) passes through Barkley Basin, climbs north past Miners Needle and descends Miners Summit to Bluff Spring Trail. The return trip goes west following Bluff Spring Trail (235) back to the Peralta Trailhead parking lot.

I have not hiked this trail before and I am not a power hiker, thus the "for beginners" part of the title... Anyone who would like to join me is welcome. If everything works out I will be at the peralta trailhead ready to go before 10am when I plan to start the hike. I will post a note here at 8am on Sunday confirming this.

The only change of plan is if the trailhead parking lot is full, then I will divert to "don's camp" and hike to the trailhead.

Anyone who might be interested or who has questions can PM me, ICQ me at 77088160 or post them here :]

I haven't done the hike you mentioned yet. Just bits and pieces. We could even do the Cave Trail hike to Freemont saddle if you want. It's pretty interesting and a good primer for "trail guessing" at times. Most hikers on Peralta will be going the opposite direction.

Ahh heck, I'm up for just about anything. I can almost guarantee you will be parking at Don's Camp by 10:00 and might want to consider Carney Springs TH as a launch point.

I don't have ICQ (tell ya later) but you can just send me a response here if interested.
Sure, and if there is an even easier place to meet outside of FS77 we could do that as well. I am also flexible about going earlier than 10am, especially if we take the alternate route.

I spent the weekend on Bluff Spring Mtn, and came out via BS trailhead around 3:30 yesterday. Did I see any of you there? There were several people.
