I just received this letter today. This would be of specific interest to anyone who uses the southern trails in South Mountain Park, maybe ALL hikers should provide input.

Subject: South Mountain Freeway Public Involvement – How do you want to participate?
Good afternoon:
Because you have expressed interest in the proposed South Mountain Freeway project, the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) is requesting your participation in a brief survey.
This 15-question survey focuses on the most effective ways for ADOT to keep you informed about, and involved in, the public process when the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for the proposed South Mountain Freeway project becomes available.
The DEIS will contain key information about this proposed project, including but not limited to, an explanation of the purpose and need; the recommended alternative; impacts to the environment and surrounding communities; and how environmental and community impacts would be mitigated if this project is approved.
Your survey responses will help ADOT develop an effective plan for public involvement that includes opportunities for you and other interested stakeholders to provide input about the DEIS before the ultimate decisions are made about this proposed freeway project.
Whether you are in favor of building the freeway, opposed to building it, or have not yet decided, your responses are very important. Although we ask for demographic-related information, you will remain anonymous. This demographic information will help us develop and provide a comprehensive public-involvement plan that best meets the needs of all stakeholders.
