Crested Cactus Destroyed
I saw this on KPHO news last night: http://www.kpho.com/video?clipId=7426527&autostart=true A double crested saguaro in the Four Peaks area has been destroyed. I don't know much more, but it would be nice if someone local could confirm/deny. The man who reported the story called it King Crest.
Allergic to cities.

Not sure if this has been posted yet...but this could have knocked the saguaro over? Video of someone jumping into a saguaro.

See so many saguaros that may have been shot at...saw one once with an arrow stuck in it. Sometimes we really suck as a species, what we do to each other and nature...
Thanks to all the trash picker-upers, botanical gardeners, wilderness preservers, etc...I appreciate you...you give me hope.

Re: Crested Cactus Destroyed
I saw one with red spraypaint the other day. Makes me sad because the saguaro is part of what makes our desert so awesome. To me part of the enjoyment of hiking is looking at them as I go and creating interesting images out of them.

Pam and I found a young, barely cresting, crested saguaro today, just south of Aguila. And so the cycle of life turns ...

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

I figured I'd throw my two cents in on this today, I was never a destructive person (I ran in to plenty of things but never on purpose!

I don't think it has to do with "kids nowadays" because this was a good 15 years ago in the middle of suburbia, not some bored red necks with nothing better to do.
Maybe it's attention, or some sort of need for "control" I dunno, maybe "mommy didn't love me" or a middle child complex plays a role...I think it's stupid and a waste of time...in my HONEST opinion, perhaps instead of destroying a cactus or burning down a playground...perhaps these people would be better off destroying themselves, I know the world would be better off with such an outcome.
