Got permit in hand. General plan is to meet at the gas station in Tacna ( last I saw only one) about 7-730 am Fri morning. Take Christmas Pass road to Tule Well, then drive a short distance west to informal TH which is a closed management road. Depending on sight seeing and other things, head out for Cabeza Prieta pass as a backpack. Those not into that could car camp then start and do the whole enchilada as a day hike on Sat. Must pack in all desired supplies, get a permit, and have or ride in a 4wd HC vehicle. Backpack will be a dry camp so take water. The pass is I think about 8 miles on and off management roads, the peak is a little over 3 miles farther and trailess. Fires in fire pans and bring wood; except I think backcountry hikers can have a fire, using resources at hand.
Plan on seeing Border Patrol.

If we have too big a group have to get a special permit so keep number of vehicles at minimum and catch a ride; and or I'll pretend I don't know you--
Lots of other things to do in the area too and due to the long driving plan on using Sunday as a travel day, perhaps out the Camino--
