I spotted the plume while giving a tour, visible on highway 64 on the Navajo Rez this afternoon. Reports say its burned 64 acres or so 5 miles west of Tusayan. I showed up at Grandview Point just in time to be amongst those "evacuated".

Halfway Fire
TUSAYAN, Ariz. -- The Halfway Fire burning in Northern Arizona has led to evacuations at Grandview Point inside Grand Canyon National Park.
The Arizona Daily Sun says the evacuations took place Wednesday evening as the smoke from the blaze made its way to the South Rim.
The fire, which spans 60 acres, is burning on National Forest and National Park lands.
No structures are being threatened by the Halfway Fire, and there are currently no road closures.
Officials, however, say the National Park Service is considering closing US 64 from Buggeln Hill to the turnout east of Yaki Point if the smoke causes safety concerns.

This is the second day in a row that with our nightly wind changes in Ute Pass that smoke is being blown in so thick that we have to close the windows.
