I'm sure SAR was glad to be rid of her

Rich Texas woman hires private HELICOPTER to get her off 8,000-foot mountain after deciding rescuers lugging her down on stretcher are 'too slow'

So, the SAR team was risking injury themselves for this lady (please, feel free to loosely translate the word "lady"), but were not moving fast enough?! PATHETIC! Now, the article doesn't say the extent of her injuries or much of the story at all, but it sure appears to tell of the respect she has for those guys! (or lack of it, rather.) If somebody has the money to hire a private helicopter, then good for them, but don't call for a rescue and after they are lugging you down the mountain say, "no thanks"...... I guess nobodies time is valuable but hers!

I wonder if perhaps her problem was pain rather than the slow pace. They didn't give enough detail to say, but a long, bumpy ride in a Stokes litter can be excruciating with some injuries.

I have helped carry a few ladies out of the Superstitions that I would have been very thankful if they would have hired a helicopter flight out. And yes a stokes carry for the subject can be a very painful ride. Sometimes a very slow walkout is preferred over a stokes carry such a when the subject has a Clavicle Fracture (Broken Collarbone).

She should have just hired the helicopter to take her up there in the first place :sl: and save all the valuable hiking time for socializing with her rich friends.
On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.

1) She scrapped her knee.

2) The slowness of SAR's carry might be explained by the subject's ... ummm ... rather corpulent figure.
