Partner for Superstition Hikes

Post by exmnhiker »

I'm a new resident of East Mesa transplanted from Minnesota. I'm a 56 yr-old married guy in good shape looking for a partner(s) to go on day hikes in the Superstition Wilderness on weekends after monsoon season is over. I have an excellent trail guide so hiking experience in the Superstitions is not necessary, so let's explore & photograph it together! Since I have arrived in April of this year, I have hiked in the Usery Mtns, Mt Lemmon, & Madera Canyon & hope to explore the Chiricahua's.

:welcome: Hi Mike. I'm sure you'll get some takers, I'm just tied up over the next few weekends or I would join you. May anyways depending on the date/route.

Hey Mike, my name is Mike, and I'm a Supes nut and always looking for new hike partners. What kinds of hikes are you into in terms of mileage/AEG/trail or offtrail/peak bagging/canyoneering, or do you have any kind of preference?

:welcome: Hi Mike, it's not hard to find someone to go hiking in the Superstitions with you, just need to know what your preferences might be and when you do your hiking (morning, evening, weekdays, distance, etc). Keep an eye on this site and you'll soon find out schedules of other frequent Supes hikers.

I'll be returning to my winter digs in Apache Junction in October and the Superstitions are on my list all winter long, Can't wait.

Jack
On every trip into the Superstitions, I find another Gold Mine. Today the mine was filled with Memories. I can not wait for the next trip.

Why wait till after Monsoons? Other than winter this is one of best times to hike Sups in my opinion...spent four nights in Sups over last couple weekends this is time to go man...fair amount of water in some washes, and even some pretty decent swim holes, (DISCLAIMER: EVAPORATES QUICK ONLY COUNT ON RELIABLE SPRINGS) although, you will probably get stuck in at least one pretty decent storm doing anything overnight this time of year. Actually going back out this weekend..Campaign TH to Upper Pine Creek area...Eastern Sups a whole different world compared to western Sups...higher elevations, less nubes, flowing streams, and tad cooler temps...done every trail in SUPS but a few sections of West Pinto and Cuff Button...might be an ambitious day hike, but you could prob go to Walnut Spring and back comfortably..although, I am doing multiple nights, so prob wouldn't work for ya...

feel free to message me anytime..out there usually every weekend in some capacity or another..

@Cokadoodledude
just saying whats up to fellow SUP nut, was out there last weekend...some of the interior canyons were rocking and rolling from a pretty decent storm on Friday...made for great times..in fact, road to Peralta TH washed out weekend before when I was there, spent some time around Charlebois, didn't see anyone for four days, the Sups are greenest I have seen them in awhile..

@friendofThundergod
Hey dude, are you into day hikes? I like to be at home at night with my wife. Not saying I couldn't at some point be talked into a backpacking trip, but I prefer intense day hikes. I've been accused of being a trail hater because I take a liking more toward rough offtrail stuff, but that's not entirely true....not entirely.
