Blue Range Primitive Area Volunteer Project
Hannagan Meadow Trail Maintenance
Please join WMCL volunteers to help restore trails in the Blue Range Primitive Area. This year, to avoid conflict with other local events, we are celebrating National Public Lands Day on October 5th. We will conduct maintenance on trails near Hannagan Meadow at about 9000’ elevation. This project provides a great opportunity visit a wild place and witness the early stages of natural recovery after the Wallow Fire. This is a one day project. The hike will not be very difficult as there won’t be much variation in elevation. There will be a variety of tasks ranging from moderate to strenuous making this project suitable for all. US Forest Service personnel will provide all of the tools and supervision.
This is a wonderful time to work in the upper reaches of the Blue Range as the Aspen will be changing color and the elk will be bugling. We will meet at 8:30 AM at the Hannagan Trailhead about 25 miles south of Alpine on the east side of Hwy 191 (just south of Hannagan Meadow Lodge and across from Hannagan Meadow Campground). We will return to the trailhead by 4:00 PM. Participants are welcome to camp at the Campground or at a dispersed site at the trailhead - both have toilet facilities. Please contact Don Hoffman at 928-339-4426 or email: d.hoffman@frontiernet.net.
