Typhoon Haiyan

Post by azbackpackr »

This is the big news story of the day. This typhoon is said to be one of the most powerful storms ever recorded on the planet, and has likely caused a few thousand deaths in the Philippines, although it's too early for anyone to know.

For me, a little more interesting because a co-worker is there, and she had actually invited me to go with her. I had actually thought about it, looked at ticket prices, etc. Of course, now we are worried about her and her child and family.

As I write this, not much is yet known of the extent of the death and destruction, and the storm has yet to hit the mainland of Asia, where it is going to slam into the east central coast of Vietnam.
