I ran across a photo of some interesting ruins, and am wondering if they look familiar to anyone. The caption only says that they are northeast of Carefree, near Apache Peak.
My Topo program doesn't show anything, but a spot on Google Earth looks promising (33.890144 N -111.856933 W)
Unfortunately, the area is difficult to access due to gated development.
I'm hoping for a clue, as a Pic Mimic would be classic. I'll even wear a dress if necessary.

That was quick.
I'm still a little unclear. Apache Peak looks pretty smooth, other than some outcroppings to the southeast. The ruins are near the summit?
The wild stuff at 33.890144 N -111.856933 W (almost a mile West by Northwest) looks really interesting (Gold Hill), and is on the continuation of Old Mine Road, is that where it is?
I'm actually surprised you can get in there, I've done a fair amount of work in the Desert Mountain area, and always had to get through security gates.
Either way, they are so close I can bag Apache and check out Gold Hill while I'm at it.
Thank You.

I haven't actually been to this ruin but I've heard about it I've been up Apache Peak, Butte Peak and part of Gold Hill.
The key to access is to go beyond Desert Mountain and the gated communities and go in at Tonto Hills - no gates
I think the ruin might be in the boulders on E or SE side of Apache from what I've heard but I'm not sure.
I might be interested in trying to pic mimic that shot http://hikearizona.com/trip=62258

It might not make a very accurate 1870's PicMimic, but we can always take a separate shot.
I looked for a "Deutsche Touristen tragen Crocs und Speedo" phototag, but apparently it isn't as popular as I would have thought.
How does November 29th or 30th sound to everyone?

I've got one member interested in this hike, but not on these dates, so I'm going to put it on the back burner.
In its place I'm looking to bag Sugarloaf Mountain north of Spur Cross, then down to Tortuga Creek Spring for a 7 mile 2000 AEG loop (rough estimates). About 5 on trail and the rest moderate to maybe dicey off trail.
I'll do a solo first light boogie unless I get any last minute takers.
