Black River access
Can anyone provide info/opinions on trails that access the upper Black River (either fork)? Planning on a three day/two night trip into the area in mid-May. Solitude, scenery, nice campsites, and good fishing are priorities. Thanks in advance for any info.

Black River Access
Tom,
I tried to post a reply earlier today, but it looks like it didn't post correctly. Operator Error no doubt.
My wife and I are going camping for 7 days the 3rd week of June. If you find any interesting sites, please let us know.
There are 5 or 6 campgrounds along the East Fork of the Black River. Most or all require fees and have some facilities. There is also one along the West Fork. I have some information on them if you would like. You might also try the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest Website as well. There is also a website, White Mountains Online, that might provide you with some additional local information.
We camped in an RV a couple of years ago, but we were close to Big Lake and not Black River. We have never been to the Black River, but are looking forward to it. My wife is concerned about the bear population there.
There are numerous trails in the area. One thing that might be useful would be an Apache-Sitgreaves Forest map.
Enjoy your trip.

CAUTION!!!CAUTION!!!CAUTION!!!
The Black River area just got written up in the May Arizona Highways, so it could be crawling with undesirables this summer. I'm considering just scouting it this year, but waiting til next year... or the next.
I guess I better add this "edit". After looking at your trail links, it appears you will be well away from the area written up in the mag.
