Due to Tuesday’s flashflood event, the Waterline Road was washed out about 3.5 miles south (downhill) from Lockett Meadow. The City of Flagstaff waterline provides water from Inner Basin springs, lies under the road and was also breached. City water crews were able to close pipeline valves, thus shutting off water flow through the pipeline. Assessment of damage to the road and waterline is continuing.
The above was taken from below:

I wonder if this will have an affect on the spring flow in the basin, since no water flowing in the pipe means no water being pumped from the ground in the Inner Basin.

I couldn't find any photos on there of the flood, only of the fire.

Well, the Slide got me thinking of this old fire. The Slide Fire, not some slide into depravity or a slide into psychosis. What's wrong with you! Anyway, it is hard to believe it has been just shy of 4 years. Looking at new satellite images, we can see a lot of the Schultz, and it's effects. I traverses the Doyle Ridge to the upper Water Line RD in June of 2011, but not enough time had passed to really get a feel for the area.

Anyone going to be in the vicinity this year? we could use a photo set or images taken both on the Waterline, and the Schultz Pass RD, and also out to 89 on the Elden Springs RD, or what ever that is called. Images of the view from the car, maybe some transects out perpendicular to the road, say maybe going a few hundred meters in. You could note soil erosion and condition, ground and grass cover conditions, the % of live crown left in areas not killed, stems standing or down, reproduction of new stems, you know, the basics we all mention in our weekly hikes. ;)

Come on people, I don't want to have to be the one to do this!!!

My S.O.'s dad lives off of the Eldon Road just before it turns to dirt about a mile away from where it splits off from Schultz Pass Rd. Will be up there sometime in the next few weeks and planned some hiking up there. If I have time I might be able to get a picture or two.
