Help me find a BP trip

Post by jaybird »

I'm looking for a 3-4 day BP'ing trip for mid-April. Ideally it would be:

- within a 4 hr drive of Phoenix
- consist of a 6-9 mile hike to a "base camp" where we could set up and then do day hikes
- have reliable water

Current front runner is Reavis Ranch. Anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks

J

In response to jayrapson's reply:

You know a good one would be a mountain biking trip to Gooseberry Mesa, Utah followed by an overnigher in the backcountry of Zion National Park. April 20-23.

In response to jamis12's reply:

Using "Jamis" in your username is an insult to great mtn bike company. where does the 12 come from?

Have fun on your trip. Where are you backpacking?

I suppose I'm kinda lost here. How is using "Jamis" as an username an insult to the company? If anything, they should be flattered that someone thinks enough of their bikes to use the name as a screen-name.

Jamis is a sweet company. Dakar all the way!

Maybe it's his friend as the post seems a tad off mentioning mountain biking in Utah on site about hiking in Arizona :?

In response to joe bartels' reply:

Yes jamis12 and I are old friends. Well he's old and I like to razz him so we get along famously :D He scheduled his trip to Gooseberry the weekend after my reavis trip which had 2 consequences 1) I can't go because I'm already taking time off work to do the Reavis trip and 2) a couple of other people who would have otherwise done the reavis trip are now doing the Utah trip. i was pushing him for later in the summer.

I have an old steel Jamis Dakota. Doesn't get much use since I bought the Titus RacerX but it is a great bike and a great company.
