Alrighty, its fall so its time to start thinking of the next Painted Desert exploration and easy overnight backpack into the Petrified Forest or nearby environs. "Mountain Lion Mesa" will be a dayhike sortie with probably "accommodations" taking place in the southern wilderness northeast of Agate House. Possible side trip option to Chavez Pass Pueblo for those of your returning to Phoenix, as it is on the way between Holbrook and Strawberry.
Total of 8 folks for overnight. Dayhikers are welcome - they don't affect permit limits.
This'd be on Oct. 11th-12th, though if there is no interest I can push the date back. This has also been posted on AZH, with no takers so far. I'll have to collate the two lists, I guess, if I actually get any takers.

Re: Painted Desert Rendezvous
Hey pagerob, when you get a chance, would you (or someone on the site good with the culture part of our site) tag the photos I posted for Three Turkey Ruins? I don't want to do it wrong, could use the expert! ;)

Bummer, sorry you missed it. Looks like you had a good time up that way though. I've tagged some of your photos, but not all. I was in a hurry this morning. I'll get to the rest tonight.

Re: Painted Desert Rendezvous
awesome...I wish I knew a bit more about Native American history and artifacts. I'll have to rent some books from the library about identifying structures and objects...
