Superstition Ridgeline via Hiero
Meeting at Fry's store on Apache Trail and Idaho Rd at 8am. I plan to have a shuttle vehicle set up at Siphon Draw Trailhead (Lost Dutchman Park) ahead of time. We will travel to the Heiro trailhead. Take Heiro up to the Ridgeline and the Ridgeline to Flatiron. Probably bag the North Peak along the way, then down the Siphon Draw to our shuttle (about 9-10 miles). I hiked Flatiron last month and bagged the north peak. Have done Hiero up to the pools. This will be my first attempt connecting the two routes via the Ridgeline. Sounds like upper Hiero is a scramble.
This is my gym. I have to travel down a bumpy road to get there. There are no treadmillls, no machines, and no personal trainers. I walk..I run..I breathe the fresh air. I can go any time I want, as much as I want and there is no membership fee.

Re: Superstition Ridgeline via Hiero
Well don't wait up for me, I'm going to have to bow out on this. I just spent most of the night trying to get into my car as I lost my keys and had to pay a bunch to get new ones made. I would get 4 1/2-5 hours of sleep tops, and I just don't think that's going to help on this hike.

What a great route. This is a fantastic way to conquer the Ridgeline in about 10 miles. For extra fun, do a little extra exploring around the hoodoos just below North Peak.

Re: Superstition Ridgeline via Hiero
Going up Hieroglyphic instead of down makes a big difference. Although going down Siphon Draw, tired at the end of the day, was work; it was still way better than going down that steep upper end of Hieroglyphic canyon. There's a flat rock section (on a 50%+ grade) with some loose rock on it that would seriously ruin your day if you slipped.
The direction we went was the best choice IMO.

I always enjoy going down Siphon Draw cuz I kinda "mountain goat" my way down and have gotten down to the slickrock in as little as like I think 20 or 30 mintues (can't remember for sure but it was fast and fun : P)
*Disclaimer: Don't try this at home kids. I won't lie it's fairly dangerous cuz if you trip in the upper 3rd of that route you prolly won't have much to stop your fall :P Still it can't be as bad as falling on the chute up to four peaks
