Bag Me a Peak!

My Bucket List...peakbaggers.com lists 89 Arizona Wilderness Peaks from Humphrey's at 12,637ft down to Imperial Refuge at peak 1085ft.

'I'm sure there are many others and perhaps some of these are not as tasty but I think I'd like to bag a couple...
what are your thoughts on the list (starting with 10 to choose from) and the selected routes.
don't mind all the little notes, those are for myself later on when i forget things

9. Mount Baldy via Mount Baldy Loop (11,400 ft)
8. Escudilla via Government Trail (10,912 ft)
7. Mount Trumbull via Mount Trumbull Trail (8029 ft)

Signal Peak? Table Top? Mount Ajo? Sugarloaf Mountain? I can't decide...

for arugments sake and my love of the area...I choose.

1. Sugarloaf Mountain via the peak trail (3418 ft) a whole mile long peak hike

i think highest recorded hike we've done recently is 5057 at Superstition Peak...looks like it's time we join in with the BIG kokopellis for some big mountains!

For July, if there hasn't been much monsoon activity, and you start out EARLY you should be okay, but if you see clouds piling up, turn around NOW. June is much better.

I hit monsoon winds above the treeline two summers ago doing Humphries. It was quite the adventure but I don't think I would do it again. Well... yeah, I probably would

I almost got blown off of there a couple Junes ago. I experienced the literal definition of "takes your breath away." The wind is blowing so hard you feel like you can't get a breath.

2. Mound Mountain via Peak trail (6266 ft) 18 miles **Superstitions!**

So in Mid-November I'll be draggin you all along on a trip to Mound Mountain as well as a visit to Reavis Ranch and Circlestone...my only question is...which route is best? Any thoughts on the funnest, prettiest, most interesting route?

We want to hike out to Reavis Ranch, set up camp there, set off to Circlestone and Mound mtn the next day and return home the 3rd day.

I like the southern route best. One section of switchbacks through typical Sonoran desert and then once past Reavis Saddle it's like you enter another world. Reavis Grave is also along this route.

From Reavis TH it is a longer with about 5.5 miles of constant uphill to Windy Pass. This trail has nice views of Apache Lake and 4 peaks wilderness.

@Trishness I spoke with Tough_Boots regarding this and he says we'll need a 4X4 to clear the road down near Roger's Trough and the road is too long to hike in short amount of time.
Would really love to do it from the south but this time around we'll shoot from the north! Unless of course a 4x4 vehicle or two happen to land in our laps
But at least we'll get to bag a peak!!

I think, too, since you have a couple newbies going that the north might be a little easier. Its a little longer but the grade is much more even and pleasant. The views are nice and expansive in a quiet way. Coming from the south is more diverse but much more up and down-- and the ups are much steeper. I like going from both directions.

I'd like to do one or two sky islands before snow becomes an issue, using longer approaches, of course. Perhaps Lemmon via Sutherlund, Wrightson via Florida Canyon, Chiricahua via Snowshed, etc. Anyone interested? My work schedule is a mess now, but maybe something will line up.

It's all the border business that has me brainwashed into thinking I shouldn't do some of these alone, though I'd prefer it.

@Patrick L I'm going on some sort of hiking craze come 2013, let's hit some of these peaks together if you haven't already. I still have to wait out the next month, although I was bad and bagged Sugar Loaf today
I wanna hit some Tucson peaks in late spring, should be a nice time, yeah?

Day trip on the trail for me - No gear, yet. The more difficult the approach, the better as long as no one has any injuries. Any order works for me.

you're too easy Sir! from the spotting of research I've done on the 3 you listed I think they're all around the same mileage and within the same height range too. sooo....let's hit Chiri first.
And as for the Border Business, no worries, no one will bother us at 9000+ feet!

I was considering mid-late May so we get all the awesome wild flowers for Chiri Peak, I know a few friends who might tag along just for the photo ops that would grant us.

Thank you for giving new life to this discussion. It's the reminder I needed to do some of the household chores that have accumulated over the last few (many?) months whilst I'd wasted my time doing non-peak bagging hikes.
