A true trap would quickly fill in with debris. There are a few sections of rock jumbles with gaps below. The area was named trap by the ranchers because you could herd cattle into it from the bottom and they were trapped between the canyon walls and the "wader" section that friendofthundergod refers to, or else the higher up one that requires a scramble along the northeast wall.

I guess I need to hire a packer to take me to the east end of the canyon and with orange paint blaze a route to the trap. ;)
The entrance to the trap is much to high for flood water to deliver any kind of debris unless of course we get another 40 days and 40 nights of rain like in the days of Noah. :whistle:

even if you don't find the trap, the canyon is still worth a look. i've been thru 2x.

The canyon entrance off Hoolie Bacon is pretty easy to locate. Are you hiking in from Tortilla TH or Peralta? It will be warm so take plenty of water.
