If you like Guiness beer...bring one. If you like any beer bring one. You can also toast with whatever you want.
Its a short hike to celebrate and toast our friend John Rodney Scott.

Re: I thought this might be a nice tribute
I have been listening to the Ham Radio people supporting the race on the Highline Trail all morning the reports are snow rain and wind sounds nasty up that way. Snow is sticking above 5K feet.

@BobP
sounds good to me.
sounds good to me.
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

I'll probably get a head start...just because....

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

@Outdoor Lover
so do we all eventually want to gather in the Thumb area for the meetup/tribute for John. I may want to get a head start too.

I hope you all had a good time my back was still jacked up this morning from my moment of stupidity at work on Friday.

Re: Johnr1 Tribute Hike
well I think johnr1 would have liked that tribute where we all had a great hike and time to enjoy the Tom's Thumb area. Thx Bob for putting this together and as usual for being the host that goes beyond with libations and snacks. Would be nice if we could make this an annual event but that might be too much. I'd offer to do next year's (Mount Peeley?) but I don't think I could carry all that stuff up
.
John and I did this Tom's Thumb hike in Jan 2011 and I got some good video of him both hiking and climbing: http://youtu.be/9M6MYhYrwsw.
Today's event was a great way to celebrate John's life
. Nice to see everyone: Bob, Joe, John9L, Johnlp, Denny, Pam, and to meet the other Denny.

@joe bartels
I was looking forward to meeting some more people from the site I am hoping to be back to 100% by the middle of this week. I was lifting a 70 lb. battery into the equipment bay of one of my aircraft and ended up pinching something. I am annoyed at myself since it was preventable.

Re: Johnr1 Tribute Hike
It was great to see everyone and for a worthy reason...It seemed fitting too that Climbers were getting ready to go up as we were leaving...Thanks for putting this together Bob, it was perfect! I'm sure John had a nice Smile going while we were there...
