Highline Trail, Geronimo to Wash. Park Sun. May 15
Continuing on to the next section of the Highline Trail that I have yet to complete, I want to hike from the Gernonimo TH to the Washington Park TH. This one will be done as a shuttle hike and Wally has so far agreed to serve as the 2nd driver. If we get a large enough of a group for this, we may need more drivers. Total distance is I believe 9.4 miles as noted by tonyp in his book. Leaving Mesa at 5:30am. Should be starting to get warm in the Valley around this time, so heading up north should begin to sound inviting.

Truck fixed. PVC valve, easy.
So I can drive if need be. I have a full size extended cab, so backseat might be alittle cramped.

I hope that's PCV rather than PVC,
Otherwise your spare part won't last long!

@kevinweitzel75
Cool! I think anyone with a pickup will be welcomed to drive if they don't mind. It's a short drive on the dirt roads back to Geronimo Th, so sitting in a pickup bed after a 12 mile hike with 4-5 sweaty people might be preferable to being packed inside a car/truck.

Send me a PM with the directions to your house. It's been awhile, don't think I remember.

I'll need your address also. The plan is to meet at 5:30 and go from there right? I can drive if needed too.

I'll also need your address and directions if it's hard to find. With as many people going should we meet in a mall parking lot so you don't have 6 cars parked at your house all day?

I'm just about definite on going.
Stillernator - Would we be taking the Bush Hwy to the 87? If so, you closer to Power or Ellsworth? For a group this large, a meeting place would be nice. I know there is a Starbucks and grocery store on the northwest corner of McDowell and Power. We can dump our cars and get our coffee fix! But its up to you.

Re: Highline Trail, Geronimo to Wash. Park Sun. May 15
I will take the Bush Hwy to 87. Power and McDowell is a good place to meet for me for those who don't want to make the trip to SE Mesa. The closest cross streets to my house are Higley and University.
Wally and kevin live very close to me, so it makes sense for at least those guys and other EV residents like johnlp to meet at my place. I guess I need a consensus on who prefers to meet at my house and who prefers a remote meetup spot at Power and McDowell. I can PM my address to all the "committeds" who want to meet at my house.
The number of cars in front of my house isn't an issue for me. I'll be hiking
. I suppose it might be easier to meet at my place just to avoid keeping track of two groups of people and two separate meetup spots. We're also going to have to make a gametime decision on number of vehicles and who's driving. But if someone would really prefer to meet at Power and McDowell, I understand and won't object to that, just let me know who you are so we (I) can keep track of everyone.

The more different spots we meet, the more complex, and thus prone to failure, the operation will be. ;)
I say meet at Stillernator's if he doesn't mind.

I will drive if some people don't mind being a little cramped in my backseat. Remember, i am a smoker, so my truck will smell like cigarettes. Just a friendly reminder.

Hey Joe,
Re: May 06 2011 6:11 am in this thread, any idea why there are two separate hikes for the exact same trail?

Re: Highline Trail, Geronimo to Wash. Park Sun. May 15
These are two separate trails. #290 goes from Washington TH up the rim and #390 is a spur trail starting at #290. GPS routes are the same because both route authors combined these trails when hiking, uploaded routes and linked them to different 'Hikes'.kingsnake wrote:why there are two separate hikes for the exact same trail?

I hate to cancell, but I've had a family emergency come up.
I was looking forward to this hike, getting to meet some new people and just getting out.
