Re: Mindless weather chit chat
For months I've been reading posts from people who probably heard about some trail on a blog or website somewhere and suddenly they have to hike it, because: 2019
? And yet, it seems a select few of them have very little understanding of the variability, complexity, and diversity of terrain and weather conditions in this state.
As I see the forecast currently has some very impressive snow totals over the next few days, from the international border to Utah, from the desert floors to the highest peaks across mountain ranges statewide (the Ancha are in the 50" to 100" of snow forecast zone!), all I can think of is how much I hope to read about how this all goes for everybody {gif link}. Especially those February folks!

Is it too early for me to wonder if any of this will actually happen?
Nonetheless, probably worth keeping an eye on if you like doing things out of doors.

Yup, and they are trying to get everyone to stay home. This morning the fire department in Kingman said they expected another 8 inches.

Fun Fact: On this date 3 years ago, PHX hit 86 degrees, the record high for the date. Tomorrow it might not hit 50.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
I just don't know where I should go to get some zoom pics of the snow tomorrow after work (3ish). I usually go up to Outlaw Golf Course for the Mazzies or Silly Mountain for Supes and of course the windmill for Picketpost. I'd like to try something new. Any ideas?
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

why don't you just drive to Outlaw and not have to zoom!? It's been snowing there all day!

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
Snowing here right now but has rained at least half the night so too wet to stick and probably won't get that cold. Deciding between Nogales, Oracle, Benson areas to travel to. Feeling lazy so might head to closest easiest destination.
Shows what I know, starting to stick and absolutely huge fluffy flakes, poor visibility.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
Yeah! just back in. 4wd needed almost driving out of my development and on the interstate as well as a side road or two. 3 extrications I assisted with, a volkswagen beetle, a Chevy Cruze? ; and a blue FJ, ADOT guy and his truck and me to get a UPS truck back on the road that had slid off. That thing was a beast. Every where I went blue, red , yellow emergency lights. It was a race to get to some places before road was closed.
Sheriff's deputy wished me well and to take good pics as I was obviously getting ready to crawl thru the barbed wire to poach on mine land. I don't know if I got any really good pics because snowing so hard hard to keep camera lens clean.
I did walk briefly on the AZT at Sahuarita road and Hwy 83 junction ( which they were closing when I pulled up). Probably 4 inches of snow there and more in spots.
