Looking for my 100th HAZ hiking partner

Post by BobP »

About 67,219,200 seconds ago....I joined HAZ. As I type, the seconds will turn to minutes and...NEways during that time, I've hiked with 39 registered HAZ members. PM if you want to hike this Friday and be number 40 or if you've already hiked with me and "still" want to do a hike. I hear the wildflowers are nice in the McDowells now.

When that is done, is it up the trail and down the tram or the trail? What time do you start at?

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

So a friend of mine who will be turning 50 next year.... and wants to do a demanding hike...knowing her I knew it was gonna be a challenge. I know I probably won't be able to keep up with her so maybe you'd like to join me on this hike instead. Its only 120 miles with xx,xxx elevation gain. :scared: Of course I couldn't say no because....she can kick by butt. :) ...I'll need to start training pretty hard....know any tough hikes in Tucson. ;)

Bruno update....

He almost didn't make it to see his 1st birthday which is next week. He has been spending time in the doggie hospital with a fever that spiked over 107. Cause unknown...but they think it is either an infection or some kind of venomous bite. Looks like he is stabilized and will come home today. It was wierd seeing him hooked up to an IV and just laying around. He barely wagged his tail. Even after not eating for a few days. he is still 109 pounds :wlift: . I've spent more money on him in the last few days than I did in 13 years with my other dog. :o

Really glad to hear he's improving! I could have been driving a really nice car given the money I spent on my Lab... Instead, my vet is driving it.

Good to hear Bruno is recovering. Dogs can be expensive. I've been extraordinarily lucky with Kai. In his 12 years, I've never been to the vet more than twice in a year (and I think 2x only happened twice) and none of those vet trips cost me more than $300. Prescriptions included. Of course the next year or two could change that a bit... (where's the knock-on-wood-smiley?)

I have two yellow Labs that had their bout with cancer. Several years ago I obtained pet insurance (one of the top rated ones) and I can only rave about them. You still have to pay the Vet upfront however once the claim is properly submitted they reimburse 80% minus a $200 deductable and within one week we had received reimbursement. They don't cover annual well exams, however the important thing is they cover catastrophic health issues that run well into thousands of dollars at one time. check out http://www.gopetplan.com
My older dog has already racked up $25,000 in claims!

Best wishes for your dogs recovery!!!

3 years ago I started this thread and hiked with my 50th partner. Well now I've hiked with 71...And I'm looking for someone who wants to ski next friday. Snowbowl will be closing for the season on Sunday April 7th...I tentatively have one person awaiting female permission :oplz: . Anyways I'm skiing Friday if you are interested. I will not be available to carpool unless you can leave on Thurs and don't mind making a side trip to the Grand Canyon on Sat and coming back Sun. or maybe just doing something else in Flag on Sat...PM me if interested I don't always follow threads even ones I start :)

I wanna go skiing! But I'll be in San Diego instead, which I will not be complaining about.

Speaking of 50 haz hiking partners ... that's exactly the number I'm at. Didn't even realize it until you resurrected this thread. Of course, it moves people to the top of the list if you hiked with them recently, rather in the order you actually first hiked with somebody. As it is, the grand poobah appears to be the 50th, and that isn't true. It's actually the snail.
