Should we post a separate backpackers trip following the same route? Truthfully that is what I'd be most likely to sign up for.

I'd most likely be interested in an overnighter, no chance I'm doing it as a dayhike though. You guys are insane!

If everyone that backpacks the full Tule/Peralta has a pack that never exceeds 22 pounds with water I will bow. Of course I'll probably already be in the cramped over bow position so it's probably not necessary

No 40lb backpacks on this trip! No argument from me about the insanity of that. Most of us overnighters should have base pack weights before water/food/fuel of less than 10lbs. I'm still considering pushing the ~25 miles from Peralta to Reavis the first day to have reliable water and lots of trees to hang from. Although, if Fish Creek water is flowing that camp spot on Frog Tanks is pretty sweet. I guess we'll see what the rains bring.
Hey Joe, don't want to hijack your day hike thread. You want us to split off to another thread or is it cool to coordinate all our activities here? FYI, I'll be posting this up on ABC in the next week or so and recruiting more backpackers (and/or extreme day hikers) from over there.

I'm good with whatever. Sounds like there may even be some varying agendas among the backpackers too.

i have considered a new idea, that allows us to drive to woodbury, car camp on Friday night. Then, we take a shuttle vehicle to Peralta on Sat morning, then hike back to Woodbury for another car camp on Saturday night. Then, its just simple "dayhikes" from there. Sunday morn we can walk from Woodbury to Tule. That is the distance day but there are no backpacks involved.
car tricks, however. Joe you can take my Montero up to Tule, and I'll use your Tacoma at Woodbury. Then we cover that issue.

Don't know Te-wa. A 2-stage car camp/day hike option does not sound very simple to me. I'm sticking with the backpack option. If you are offering a mid trip bailout point option for the long 1 day hikers, they might appreciate having that option.

From what I hear, Joe thinks nothing of carrying 200#'s of camera gear... A 50-60# backpack is
nothing by comparison!!

YES! I scarred Bob :GB:
I'll look into figures for a 108/Randolph Cyn shortcut. That should put some nerves at ease and drop out the bushwhacking on Red Tanks/Hoolie/JF ;)
