I definitely sense increased moisture.
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
I feel like the weather in AZ is stuck on a repeating June weather loop. It can hurry up and end anytime now.
The storms last night stayed just barely south of my house, but I was so excited to see any type of clouds in the sky, I took pictures anyway.
One thing I have noticed...my dog sheds twice a year, typically April & October, nothing in between. Those months have varied a little when we’ve had early or late weather changes for the seasons, so historically it has been a somewhat good prediction tool. More for the entertainment factor, but after 11 years, a correlation has definitely been established. This year, she didn’t shed her winter coat until May/June, which is very late for her. And, a week ago, she already started shedding her summer coat, which is very early. It makes me wonder if the summer heat will suddenly end soon. Or, she’s old and something is wrong with her and I need to take her to the vet. It could go either way.

August looks to be a bust for rain, and the summer will soon draw to a close. The current 120 and 168 hour QPF models have nothing in the 5 day, but start to show a bump in precip in the 5 to 7 day model. Perhaps, rain will come in September? Flagstaff still remains at the driest June 15 to date on record, with 1.02 inches of rain.
https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/qpf/day1-7.shtml
Couldn't get the HAZ interface to load the saved images of 120 hour and 168 hour QPF, so I could only load a model for the 2 week QPF. See below.

I find that starlight doesn't properly draw out the incredible blue in my eyes for others to be dazzled by. Luckily I can always rely on the hypnotic power of my calves. Which works both day and night. Yay me!

I was up in Flagstaff yesterday and it was the warmest I've ever experienced up there. This last blast of summer is getting old.

@SpiderLegs
I'd love to be stuck up in Flagstaff this summer, in their "hot" conditions. It was so nice and cool up there, especially as the evening wore on. Their forecast of high 80s for highs, with mid 50s for lows, and modest storm chances is pretty pleasant! The dew point is right about perfect, too. 40s and 30s, forecast.
They also recorded 11/100ths of an inch of rain yesterday, which is something. However, they still haven't recorded 1/2 an inch for the entire month, and I think August is the wettest month of the year for Flagstaff, normally.
I'm still wondering what will happen in September.

@Jim_H
Na, I just think people let their guards down a little with fire safety this time of year, I imagine conditions are worse than when the museum fire started, just seems like a plausible outcome at this point. I just keep seeing all the red flag warnings popping up in CA and I just assume we are probably getting to similar conditions in some of our mountains as well...

Re: Mindless weather chit chat
Just started raining here in Cave Creek. Yeah! The desert needs this desperately. The lightning show is amazing. Non stop strikes along Skull Mesa, Black Mesa, and New River Mesa. A couple of very long strikes on Elephant that were incredible. The entire area was lit up like daytime. Let's hope no fires get started from all this. Hopefully enough rain to stop that from happening. I'm going back out to watch...

is there a scale for that 72 hour rain map? What does green or yellow mean?

ah yes. The scientific "somewhat more" than where there was "a little bit less". Pretty colors though. I wonder how they would look on a Tacoma.

Nice but short-lived downpour at our home in Cave Creek. Another cell is looming...bring it on!
