Not yet. I won't stay near the Valley, though. Back when I first moved to Arizona in 2006, there were bumper stickers on cars in Flagstaff which read, "Don't PHX FLG". Phoenix should have had bumper sticks in the 80s which read, "Don't LAX PHX". Too late.

I think that's pretty much a problem anytime people go anywhere. It just depends on whether or not the individual wants to be there any longer. At 1/5th the size, the Tucson area is not yet anywhere close to the valley.

I'm wondering if this week's temperatures back close to 90° will improve air quality here in the valley.

92 degrees yesterday! I've been told this was the latest 90+ high for Phoenix.

Nah. Today is the latest 90+ day.
Apparently we have a slight chance again tomorrow.
Today is the 191st day of 90 or above at PHX in 2020. The third most all-time. One more and we'd be 2nd. We need 5 more days to reach the record, and that seems unlikely at this point.

At day 322 of the year, 59% of our days so far this year have been at or above 90 degrees. Even if today is the last 90+ degree day, we are assured of more than half (52%) of days in 2020 will have been at or above 90 degrees.

Yup, 92 degrees today, as well. Actually, if not hiking it was rather pleasant outside. Warm or hot, but pleasant.

Weird, because over here in Blythe, which is typically as hot or hotter, they recorded only 81. (Pretty soon I'll be relocating to chilly Tucson!)

We got an early taste of winter in NJ last night, with a low of 23F and brisk winds. At least the sun is shining, so I don't mind for now.

Thursday morning it was 30.9 degrees in my backyard. I was shocked, actually. Close to 80 forecast mid-week!

Extremely unpleasant and hot summer, and a continued hot fall. I seem to recall it was 115 in early September, too. Once again, the scientists whose area of study specializes in this kind of thing have decided that their own emotions should eclipse the probability of the science they have dedicated their careers to and are excitedly telling everybody that it is going to rain! It hasn't rained at PHX in over 3 months (despite the flash flood watches issued by these same scientists a few weeks ago), so I'll sit back and remind the statisticians that 70% chance of nothing happening is more than twice as likely as 30% chance of something happening. But, ignoring the science, precedent, and whatever these people get paid to do, wouldn't it be nice if their emotional hopes and dreams actually came true?
