Yeah, I am no fan of it either. Still, in spring it is always windy up here. You can't predict the weather more than a few days out, and we got the day that looks to be the windiest for a while. It shouldn't be completely horrible, and with the shelters on the summit it might not be that bad.

Hmmm, I prefer Jamaican rum unless I'm south of the border. Then it's Cuban rum. For the poll, I'm not fond of orange marmalade and coke.

Orange marmalade? Too much pride up in Flagstaff. Sorry, sometimes they just write themselves! I shouldn't talk because I've never had an orange marmalade.
For my money the best evening constitutional is either beer or a big-bodied red wine

Ok, you partiers, that's all good, but I still want to know how much snow we will be walking through. (I realize it would be pounded down by now by hikers.) :)

Me too! and my long sleeve shirt, and a rain/wind jacket. I will be leaving in about an hour. Hope to see you all somewhere on the trail. What time did you all decide to start? Just so I can find you guys as you pass me on the trail while I am catching my breath.

I put this in the triplog also!
I am so sorry I missed you guys! I got up this morning, a little later than expected, went to my car, started it, and there was a nice light on the dashboard. ](*,) Was not sure what it was, since it is a new car and decided to go to the dealership, since I did not have my guide book with me. It turns out to be the tire gauge, due to high altitude. DOH! Ok, so I went and had breakfast, and it was later than when you guys started. I was a little pissed that I did not meet you all. I did make it there, hiked in a little ways, catching my breath, turned around and went back, oh and forgot my camera. ](*,) SOOOOOO, at least I got my feet wet a little and the scenery was beautiful. Someday I will make it to the top and meet everyone. Again, I apologize for not making it. :sorrry:

It's okay. It was very windy at the summit. We did get a great view of the new fire across the valley. I was kinda itching to get home so I dropped ahead of our group on the way back and beat feet. It was good to meet everyone on the trail and to see Joe again after several years. I guess I should get out more.

It was a fun hike and great to meet everyone! Coming off the summit for about 100 feet or so I had to crawl, the wind was so strong I couldn't stand up! And it literally took my breath away. Strange experience. But once off that one spot it was just really, really windy, but I could walk again...

Thanks, Jim, for organizing the hike! I'm glad I went! I had fun later on, too, hanging out in Flag. Drove home early this morning.
