Grand Canyon Summits Book

Post by FOTG »

Does anyone have this book? A few people have referenced using it over the years on HAZ, but it appears to be out of print and I am having no luck finding it. I am interested in some beta on a summit in there, if you happen to have this book and you don't mind taking a picture of a couple of pages, could you please shoot me a PM? Thank you.

If you find two, I'll take the second one. I've also had luck looking for stuff on eBay as well. Found a few old, out of print Arizona hiking and peak bagging books for sale under $5 a piece because a bookstore in Maine was trying to unload them.

But you might want to look on the Grand Canyon Hikers group on Facebook. I'm almost positive the author is a regular over there. He posts a lot of old GC pics of him and his family making some of the ascents back in the 70's & 80's.

Just looked it up, it appears that Wayne is the guy on the GC Hikers & Backpackers page. But assuming Aaron is related somehow.

Yep, Aaron is Wayne's son. Wayne's book Grand Canyon Hiking Adventures is one of my favorites - I found many neat spots with that book!

It’s in the Stanford Library (Stanford has pretty much every book ever published!)

You should be able to get it through an inter-library loan. At least for as long as their check out period.

Another great option. This was the only way I could find "Grand Obsession" without having to pay $70 for a used copy.

@SpiderLegs
Bookman's in Flag has Grand Obsession frequently, for a normal used book price.

@SpiderLegs
I'm surprised that has never been republished at least as an ebook-- it's an essential title. I believe Puma Press is actually Michael Ghiglieri-- I wonder what the story is.

Especially when you can find 100 copies of his other book at the GC gift shop.

I know, who would think the place you can get free DVDs would have books?
