I have been hiking the bottom part of the canyon for about 35 years. (Some of the first times when I was a kid and we took "space sticks" along for the hike). There is a lot of poison ivy in places and different times of year. We have come across both sides of the creek a couple feet wide. I have hiked a little ways past the part where the major trail has stopped and you have to go into the creek and there is very steep sides and we were hiking out with a monsoon storm coming in. I wouldn't want to be in the canyon during a monsoon. The rocks also get very slick in the water even good grippy ones sometimes tend to slip in the creek.
