Salt Fire
Another fire on the Tonto. North of Globe, I guess. I think most have lost interest in fires, or atleast about this area.

SRP says it has a transmission line out of service, so there is that. I keep my A/C at 84 in the day 81 at night, so I'm good.

Re: Salt Fire
@Jim_H It’s funny when I studied abroad and taught in Ghana we were informed and warned about the presence of rolling blackouts in the “developing” world, in fact Ghana seems to be the most referred to country on the matter from a quick google search. It seemed so foreign to us at the time and almost hard to grasp a country not being able to meet the energy needs of its people. I know this one was caused by a downed line, but California is now instituting them I see. I would have never thought that nearly 20 years later I would be living in a developed nation that is now turning to rolling blackouts to meet the energy needs of its people...

Re: Salt Fire
We drove all the way to just before Horton Creek when I pulled over to check the air. It was awful and since my wife has asthma and an ER trip has been a reality, we looked at each other and without saying a word turned around and drove back home. It is awful out there. Gonna have to find a Netflix hiking movie.

20 years ago most of the internet world was still on dial up, AOL bought Time Warner in 2000 for $162 Billion and is worth less than $5 Billion today. And the Ram's won the Superbowl!friendofThundergod wrote:I would have never thought that nearly 20 years later I would be living in a developed nation that is now turning to rolling blackouts to meet the energy needs of its people...

Re: Salt Fire
The Obama administration has a history of shutting down coal burning plants and replacing them with wind turbines and solar farms. I hope everybody enjoys the rolling blackouts.

@friendofThundergod I read somewhere that we’re also not capable of basic mail delivery! But instead of putting a program in place to solve these seemingly surmountable issues, we’ve got Space Force!!

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

Re: Salt Fire
The Salt Fire is or was burning near transmission lines. When a fire with dense smoke nears power lines with high enough current in them, the lines can arc through the smoke, potentially killing people in the area, starting new fires, or just messing with the grid. To prevent this, the line was shut down temporarily to prevent any incidents. Rolling black outs are not happening unless the grid can not meet the needs. The email sent from SRP was asking people to reduce power consumption to prevent the need for rolling blackout.

Re: Salt Fire
@Jim_H I
And they are happening in California, and not related to downed power lines. Glen Canyon Dam however, recently came to the rescue though.
Also I predict this forum will be moderated by end of the night
Hmmm thanks for restating what I stated earlier I guess?I know this one was caused by a downed line, but California is now instituting them I see.
And they are happening in California, and not related to downed power lines. Glen Canyon Dam however, recently came to the rescue though.
In their first public comments since the blackouts began Friday evening, officials at the California Independent System Operator described a “perfect storm” of conditions that caused demand to exceed available supply: scorching temperatures in California and across the western United States, diminished output from renewable sources and fossil-fueled power plants
Unless perhaps you do not consider California a part of our country. Come on I know mine was a little TLDR, but give skimming a try next time, ;)Wednesday was the fourth day in a row California scraped by without another round of rolling blackouts. But experts warn that unless the grid sees major changes, power outages could become just another part of summer
Also I predict this forum will be moderated by end of the night

Re: Salt Fire
Basic mail delivery is 99% junk mail you didn't ask for, the other 1% is HOA violation letters which you may have asked for. Seems like junk mail is their business. Would the USPS be inundated without junk mail, or just un-employed?chumley wrote:basic mail delivery!

My statement was not meant to be political and I could give two Shasta grape sodas about your politics.
My sentiment related to the state of our nation and the fact that a thing that was once deemed a third world phenomenon is now happening in the U.S. and perhaps on its way to becoming a mainstay of SW summers...

My post was not political but just facts. Decreasing electrical output in the United States without reliable and sustainable new power plants is foolhardy and stupid. Rolling blackouts will be the result period!

Considering that 50% of "Homeless" are in Mexifornia; it would seem Mexifornia does indeed qualify as a 3rd World Nation. And Mexifornia will most likely be the first 3rd World Nation to initiate a "Wealth Tax" that will follow you even if you move out of Mexifornia.
