Hi all,
I am looking at hiking from Flagstaff to Pine in a couple weeks and I was wondering if anyone had a sense of how the water sources are holding up. It looks like it's been a dry year out there! Actually if anyone has been in the area east of Pine (Mogollon Rim) and knows what the water conditions are like out there, that would be helpful too!
thanks!

Re: Water. Flagstaff to Pine
i hiked these sections, but several years ago. so, i'll follow this thread.
there were def. sections of trail (south of bargamann tank) that were dry. or fouled by livestock.
best bet is to follow AZT class of 2020 sobo's on FB, or AZT website links. you can watch reports in real time.

Reading the most recent triplogs from those trail segments can help. Some hikers discuss water sources in their posts.

Meanwhile other hikers update water reports, the most recent can be found on the map: [ custom map :: map ]

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

@nuckoles
Wow, I may be too late on this, but I did the Happy Jack section at the beginning of October and every tank had water that was easy to filter - if you didn't mind the mud getting to the water! Campgrounds are still open so you have water access there by Mormon Lake, and Lake Mary and Blue Ridge.
