Pinal Mountains post Telegraph fire trails restoration

Post by whereveriroam »

Having hiked the Six Shooter trail 100+ times over 20 years, I was more then sad that the Telegraph fire impacted it. I looked for info on how bad the trail burned but couldn't find any until I came across an article in The Globe-Miami Times newspaper. Tonto Gravity Riders a mountain biking group has had permission to go and clean up and restore some of the trails in the Pinals. They've been busting their butts and deserve credit and thanks :app: for their hard work. On the groups website they've been posting lots of pictures of the damage and repairs as well as volunteer info. It looks like they've been going regularly and the pictures are current. Be warned, there is some moonscape but the trail isn't as bad as I imagined. tontogravityriders.org/past-trail-events

Hi thanks for the kind words. You are right we are busting our butts and I am up weekly working with some of our crew. So far this year since Jan 29th we have put in 623 hours into the restoration of our adopted trails. We have completed our initial work on Six Shooter and are now working both Icehouse and Kellner. We are hoping to have all off them safe/clear and ready for again for the public when the Fire Closure ends in Sept. Fall in the Pinals is going to be great!

We welcome anyone who wishes to join in our efforts and info along with dates are posted on our trail work events under the volunteer tab on our website.
