Hello hikers!
What's the best way to get into the parking lot now? We arrived around 8:45am on Saturday. The parking lot was full and they won't let you wait in a line anymore to get in. We found a spot a mile away from the entrance, but it didn't work for us with kids. My 4 year olds can only hike about 2 miles normally. That would have gotten us to the entrance then we'd have to turn around. We did try hiking the path along the road for awhile, but my kids got scared and they are too heavy to carry the whole way. I'd love to bring the kids on this hike, but I need to figure out how to at least start at the parking lot.

Try during the week, or else avoid the overcrowding and hike elsewhere, there are thousands of other hikes on the website that are equally enjoyable and generally have less crowds.

Agree with Nonot but if the weekend is a must, try going around lunch time; 12-1 or so. I've found that in many busy places like that, it's a prime time as people who got the morning start are heading out at that time. Obviously not going to guarantee anything but greatly increases the odds at least
