Kuiu Tents

Post by RedRoxx44 »

I was looking at this company then low and behold one of my friends, who is a hunter, purchased a Mountain Star 2, decided he wanted the Storm Star, and sold me the MS2 for almost nothing. Now I don't need another tent but the deal was too good to pass up. I put it up and here is what I think about the Mountain Star 2.

A little heavy for back packing but is a two person tent. Around 3 lbs 7-10 oz trail weight. Well made. He got the stealth version, which I like. The fly and body are attached, can be separated but nice if you are pitching in rain you don't have to worry about the body getting wet.
All 4 corners have storage, there is already some cording on the ceiling panel to hang socks etc, Cording for tie outs on either end of tent already attached. Vents at either end that can be accessed from inside the tent. Sort of a dome configuration, which should be great in windy conditions. Some complain about the mesh but I think the height of the bathtub floor is good. This one came with Easton carbon fiber poles which is fine.

For one person and some dogs this would be very comfortable with plenty of room for gear etc. Kuiu is a gear driven company for hunters, but I think this tent is pretty good though definitely not UL.
