Download routes

Post by jax2000 »

Hello
I am new to HAZ and wondering if it is possible to download a hiking route GPX file so I can then upload it to my Garmin watch.
I am not finding that option.

Thanks, Jack

Yes, it is possible, but you need to use your phone or computer as the intermediary. I don’t do it often, but I have the steps written down somewhere, I’ll search around my house for them.

@fricknaley —any chance you still have a copy of those notes I sent you a while back? Or did I only send you how to send a track from your watch back to haz?

Update: I couldn’t find my old instructions, but on a phone, once you’ve created or saved your route in Route Editor, select to download it as a gpx file to your phone files. Open your Garmin Explore app, and click the + button on the lower right of the map. Then select to import gpx. Select the file you saved to your phone. Then sync it to your watch. I don’t use this method very often, since it’s so much easier to use RouteScout for everything, but it dies work.
Stop crying and just go do the hike.
