Secret Canyon Hike

Plan on driving up next Friday morning, April 12. Want to be on the road by 6:30 a.m. for leisurely hike in Secret Canyon, returning that afternoon. Have room for three more in the new Jeep. GTG's ridden with me in the Bimmer and though it aged him considerably, he did survive.

Well, Secret Canyon's gonna have to wait 'til at least the following week; Cox is coming to install cable internet Friday, something I've been trying to get for over three years, but has never before been available where I am.

OK, gonna shoot for Secret Canyon next Tuesday, the 16. Maybe early dinner in Sedona before returning home late that afternoon or early evening. Still have room for three and plan to be on the road about 6:30. Any takers?

Hooli, I'd love to join you, but as part of the 'regular world' that you don't belong to, I have to work. When you get to the David Miller Trail, unless the replaced it, the sign will be busted up.

Got myself so psyched about Roger's Canyon hike, can't wait 'til Tuesday to do Secret Canyon. Think somebody recommended a good place for food in Sedona after a hike. Looking for late lunch/early dinner?

Trihairs-

This is a little sketchy but there is a great pit BBQ place right in town that is really casual and doesn't mind dusty hikers and backpackers fresh(?) off the trail. I can't remember the name of the place but it's reasonable and located, I think, right downtown on a road that splits off from 179 and is sort of tucked in behind the main street store fronts. As I re-read this, it makes absolutely no sense to me, and I've been there. Good luck!

My vote would go to the Brooklyn Cafe, at the Bell Rock Inn in the Village of Oak Creek. Great food, great service, reasonable prices. (Incidentally, the owner's son is Paul Lo Duca, the catcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers.)

Well, back from the Secret Canyon hike; too late for the food tips, but got OK Chile Rellanos at a little place on 89A.
Secret Canyon is truly Awesome; so much so that it brought me to my knees......literally! So busy admiring the scenery I didn't see the root that stuck itself out and tripped me. One skinned knee and a scrape on the other shin.

Of course that was before I met my little buddy and set a new world's record for the Hop-Skip & Jump! After that I kept my eyes riveted to the trail and to hell with the scenery! More about that later in Trail Chat....it was also a photo op!

All the way. Little Garmin E-Trex said I was 5.69 miles in. Board at trail head said trail was 5.5 miles.
