B-2 Bomber

Post by Nighthiker »

Any one note the B-2 Bombers flying around yesterday after noon ? Quite an aerial display of flying. I noted this activity and spent 2 1/2 hrs. watching them. I noted at least two of them. They would fly from the SW, orbit and climb SSE of Apache Junction and then fly NW toward Phoenix and then turn SW and repeat the route. Awesome display of banking and climbing ! Around 4:40 in the afternoon a pair joined up and headed to the NW.

I saw the contrails of two planes following each other, south of Mesa area.
About 2:30 Friday, they were doing lots of long wide turns, like a chase.
It had to be a military training exercise, but I did not know what type of plane,
Could you see them for the ID... B-2's?

Was able to obeserve them with out binoculars and note they were B-2. Was also to observe them with binoculars. Also noted F-16 flying around as well. Spent most of the afternoon watching them I did not do my afternoon bike ride.

Observing from a distance......

Like the "flume closing for good (big changes) this year!!" thread?

Lots of unusual maneuvers for no apparent reason

Back to the B-2, that was great to see.
Can they make the contrail go away? Besides at night, with no moon?

Those guys were flying out of Falcon Field in Mesa, saw them taking off when I left work. They are probably with the Confederate Air Force based at Falcon. Pretty awesome planes, it's hard not to stop what your doing and just watch.
Keep on truckin'

Regarding the contrail, I once got into trouble and roughed up for inadvertantly trespassing onto a missile silo complex. I don't wish to answer the contrail question because I do not want to be visited by men wearing three piece suits and talking into their cuff links.
