Be kind. Every person you meet is fighting a great battle.

IMO -If you're not getting out and hiking in the rain you're missing the desert at it's best.

Re: North Face sleeping bag temp rating question
In response to Abuelo's reply:
Old posts at backpacker.com say 25 degrees, but TNF temperature ratings tend to be very optimistic. If you're a cold sleeper, the right number could be 10-15 degrees higher.

I bought a new North Face Aleutian, 20 degree bag, I took it on a trip to Rogers Trough two weeks ago. The nightime temps were probably around 35-40 degrees, I was cold, so I am not convinced that this particular bag is rated correctly. I have gone back to my old bag, and will probably sell the North Face. As far as getting a suitable bag, I own several and the cheap ones always dissapoint when you are trying for lightweight, compressibility, and comfort. I am going with REI Sub Kilo for the next one, it seems to have all the attributes I am looking for. It isn't cheap, but then you usually get what you pay for I have found. HOpe this helps.
