hopefully someone with Kayak experience will reply, all I can say is there has been talk circulating on kayaking the lower Salt river, near Fountain Hills, or several spots along the Verde a little ways outside of town. If you head up to Camp Verde, there are numerous runs from what I hear-going down to Sheeps Bridge and such.... im looking forward to learning!
a quick joke since we're on the subject..
two eskimos are paddling in their canoe when they became rather chilly-so they decided to light a fire, which caused the craft to burn and sink.
the moral?
you cant have your kayak and heat it, too.

That's an oldie, but goodie!
Thanks for the info. I ran the lower salt a couple of weekends ago. It was a nice little river. I think there was one spot I wanted to check out that might have a couple of decent surfing holes. Somewhere just upstream from one of the day use areas. I can't remember the name but it is right after a bridge. I think it was Pebble Beach, but not sure. I will let you know. (heading out of town for a couple of weeks so it will be a while before I can get down there).
