Anyone have this sleeping bag?

Post by domromer »

I'm about to order this bag, and I wanted to see if anyone already has one and has anything good or bad to say about it.

The Phantom is way dank and very lite plus the long version fits real well - i'm over 6'2" 160 lbs - just wish there was a foot zipper.

I agree with Mike. You could get a synthetic bag that weighs less for half the price. Don't get it.
The bags mentioned above are great choices and I would add Montbell to the list.

the only problem is that those bags mentioned aren't big enough. I am built like a defensive lineman. Regular sleeping bags don't fit at all. This was pretty much the biggest bag I could find. It's 80" at the shoulder and 67" at the hip. My bag is huge and heavy but my stove in less than 1pound(alcohol stove). My last bag was a big agnes lost ranger. It was 73" at the shoulder and way too small. Maybe I'll just get a goat to carry all my stuff. I've heard they can pack 50lbs.

Yes, more expensive, but it should last for years, with an estimated 2# weight savings every step of the way.

That bag would be great, but it will need to wait until I finish paying for college!

I use the Mont-bell hugger #3, it's rated at 37 degrees, and I've slept well with temp's below that! I am generally always cold too! I did use a silk liner with my last trip in the Grand Canyon, but I ended up using my sleeping bag unzipped and over me. I was actually hot....next day we were hiking out in the snow! Weight 1 lb. 5 oz. compresses to the size of a nalgene. It's a bit pricey, but I won't be replacing this bag...it's a keeper. Mary
