Hi all,
I am looking for a volunteer to accompany me on a hike in the Grand Canyon from April 30 – May 4. We will drive from Flagstaff to the North Rim and hike into the upper section of Kanab Creek within the park. For the next three days, we will explore the canyon to determine the extent of riparian vegetation and do some mock site set-up and test plots in support of the development of long-term riparian monitoring protocols for the National Park Service.
This trip will involve 5 days of backpacking with long days of hiking carrying a heavy pack. You will need to provide all of your own camping equipment and food, and it is important that you have previous backpacking experience as this will be a relatively strenuous trip. We will provide transportation from Flagstaff and a small stipend to cover your food costs.
Kanab Creek is a beautiful canyon, and this should be an outstanding hike! Please let me know ASAP if you are interested by emailing me at Rebecca_harms AT partner.nps.gov, or call me if you have questions at 928-523-7468.
Thanks!
Rebecca
