I will be visiting AZ for a meeting in Sept. I hope to do some hiking while there. I am interested in visiting Tanque Verde Falls (OK, I admit, the nudist/naturist in me wants to visit!). I know it is outside of Tucson, but I do not have any other directions. Any suggestions? How do I get there?
I don't know anything about Tanque Verde Falls, but if you looking for a nudist setting try either Verde Hot Springs or Fossil Creek Springs. Both are clothing optional, ( but mildly illegal). In general they are occupied by nice, decent folks looking for fun and relaxation. I've always had a great time at both. Verde is a 1 mile hike in and Fossil Springs is about 5 miles as I recall. Both locations are listed in the TrailDEX section at the top of this page. We are in the middle of a nasty drought so both of these locations may not be open when you come
Enjoy, but don't forget the sun screen !

Tanque Verde falls has been bone dry for some time now.
If you still want to go just follow Tanque Verde Road east. It turns into dirt, keep going. You will come to a trailhead maybe a mile in. I'm not exact on that. There is a dirt parking lot with a trail sign across the road from it. This will take you down to the creek and if you turn left you can make your way upstream to the falls. If you go beyond the parking lot, you will come to another area to go down not to much further. If you go down this way and downstream you will come to the top of the falls.
Both ways can be very precarious and many people have died by falling. Be careful. It can be a fun area but also dangerous. Enjoy at your own risk. I have gone many times over the years with no problem. It is a deep narrow canyon that can get some mean flash floods too. When there is water, it is beautiful.
Snick33; clothing optional at Fossil Springs? With all those boy scouts? I would NEVER attempt such a thing except for maybe off season or midweek As far as the Verde Hot Springs; isn't it interesting how they wear bathing caps but don't seem to need suits?
I was telling jnesmith, that the nudity is no big deal at the springs, but one weekend this mom brought her two daughters, ages approx 9 - 11, and that was a bunch too much for this old boy, and Patty and I left. I felt like a voyeur and it was very uncomfortable for me.
My little dirty secret is that we swim nude in our backyard pool frequently. Never with friends, always just the two of us. It becomes so comfortable that I have made little opp's getting in and out of the pool and retrieivng balls and such. If God had wanted us to wear clothes all the time he would have given us snaps or Velcro in the appropriate places.
And that's all I know about that . . . . . . . . .

Sounds like there are some nudists-at-heart or at least nudist-wanna-bes! I actually do not consider myself a nudist, but do like to take a quick dip nekkid and sit around for a few minutes.
Given that, in addition to the places mentioned already, are there other suggestions for nude relaxation? Other sites, trails, etc?
